Sandoval made an appearance as an excellent jazzman

On Friday 5th August trumpeter Arturo Sandoval performed in a jazz program in the Brewery Garden accompanied by the CBC Big Band under the leadership of Miroslav Surka. Arturo Sandoval clearly enjoyed the concert – besides the trumpet, he also played drums, sang and also made an appearance in front of the CBC Big Band for a while as a conductor. He also paid a tribute to his role model, jazz trumpeter Dizzy Gillespie. “It was demanding but fantastic. The band was great, the musicians did an excellent job. Jazz is not easy music for interpretation. The audience was wonderful and appreciated even the performance of the orchestra. The people are very important. If the audience likes the music and enjoys it, I am really pleased about it,” said Arturo Sandoval after the concert and added, “I love good music and it doesn’t matter what genre it is, who wrote the composition, where and when. When the music is good, I simply enjoy it. On stage I feel relaxed and happier than anywhere else, I am simply at home there.” The artistic director of the CBC Big Band Miroslav Surka also appreciated the cooperation with the legendary jazz trumpeter, “Arturo Sandoval is an amazing person who comes on scene and passes on energy. Everybody in the band feels it. The cooperation with him enriches us and I hope that he was satisfied with the concert too. It is always great to play with him.
