Jae A Yoo shined at the Masquerade Hall

South Korean flautist Jae A Yoo performed in the magical spaces of the Masquerade Hall.

On 2nd August South Korean flautist Jae A Yoo performed the Concerto for flute and orchestra in D minor by Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach in the magical spaces of the Masquerade Hall from the 18th century together with the South Czech Philharmonic under the baton of Jan Kučera. “I came back to Český Krumlov after two years and I once again played in the Masquerade Hall. This hall has a fantastic atmosphere, I really like playing here. Some halls are adapted for the transverse flute, which is an instrument that doesn’t resonate much, but the acoustics of the Masquerade Hall are really excellent,” said Jae A Yoo after the concert. Her performance was appreciated not only by the audience but also by the conductor Jan Kučera, “We had an excellent soloist and it was great to watch her talent, musicality and masterful technique. It was great cooperation.” Besides this composition the audience also heard the Overture to the opera La Cenerentola by Gioacchino Rossini, an orchestral version of the composition by Jan Kučera Birth and Symphony no. 45 in F-sharp minor “Farewell” by Joseph Haydn. “This Haydn’s symphony is really appreciated by viewers as in the fourth movement the musicians leave the stage, which makes them smile, but you may also see a deeper meaning in this: the part a person plays in life will end one day,” is how Jan Kučera outlined the composition. “It was my premiere as a conductor in the Masquerade Hall. It is a very attractive environment both for me and the viewers which only accents the beautiful music.
