Karel Martínek filled the Monastery Church with the sound of organ

He performed compositions from the 17th and 18th century as well his own improvised suite.

On Sunday 24th July Karel Martínek performed works from the 17th and 18th century, Toccata a fuga in D minor BWV 565 by J. S. Bach, Choral overture “Nun komm der Heiden Heiland” BWV 659 and Fantasia in G major BWV 572 as well as Ciaccona in F major by Johann Pachelbel and Jean-Claude d’Aquin’s piece Noël X, in the newly reconstructed Monastery Church. Martínek completed the concert with his own composition, an improvised suite titled Krumlov Impressions, parts of which bore the names Chateau, Garden above Town, Rock, Vltava Meanders, Cross above the River and Fireworks. “The composition Krumlov Impressions was pure improvisation, although I had prepared its structure and register which I would use. It was a composition of the moment and current inspiration,” said Karel Martínek about his improvisation. “I was pleased that at this time of the day, on Sunday at noon, so many viewers came to see the concert. The organ in this church is very rare, historical and it has a beautiful sound. The church is shining new and it is clear that it was very carefully reconstructed,” Karel Martínek showed his appreciation.
