The evening dedicated to the musical genre belongs to the favourite programs of the IMF Český Krumlov. On Saturday 1st August the sold-out Brewery Garden witnessed the concert titled James Bond Music and World Musicals. Besides the classical musical program the audience also heard melodies and songs from Bond films in the first half. They were sung by musical stars from Broadway: Debbie Gravitte, Capathia Jenkins and Hugh Panaro accompanied by the North Czech Philharmonic Teplice under the baton of Michael Krajewski. At the beginning the orchestra played the central theme which we all know from James Bond films. Songs sung by the soloists in costume stylizations from Bond films followed and were interspersed with orchestral melodies. The second half of the evening belonged to famous musical hits (e.g. Phantom of the Opera, Les Misérables, Chicago and Cats). Capathia Jenkins then sang the central song from the film Bodyguard. The audience rewarded the soloists with a long and delighted applause. After the concert the three singers and the conductor gave an interview to the festival television crew, led by director Petr Jančárek, after the concert. “It was great! The audience reacted in a fantastic way, we could sing another concert right now… We are truly delighted, it was a fantastic evening,” they answered the questions of presenter Jiří Vejvoda as one. “For Michael Krajewski it was premiere in Český Krumlov but we all performed here in the past. There is no other place where we have sung with a chateau behind us. The town is beautiful, like from a fairy tale. There is no other place like this in the world, ” they continued. And when Jiří Vejvoda asked which of the songs she prefers, Capathia Jenkins answered, “ I Will Always Love You, Český Krumlov!” The fans of the festival may watch the report from this concert as well as other evenings in the coming weeks on the festival website www.festivalkrumlov.cz.
