Jonas Kaufmann sang together with South Korean soprano Sooyeon Kim and with the residential ensemble of the festival, the Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra. The audience heard arias from operas by G. Verdi, G. Puccini, P. Mascagni, G. Bizet and others. Sooyeon Kim delighted the Czech part of the audience with an aria from Dvořák’s Rusalka and her perfect Czech pronunciation. Jonas Kaufmann won favour with the audience at the very beginning not only thanks to his excellent performance but also thanks to a very hearty expression. The delighted audience demanded five encores during the curtain call and did not want to let the artists leave the stage for a long time.

The festival continues tonight with Smetana’s My Country performed by the North Czech Philharmonic Teplice under the baton of Tomáš Brauner.
