Friday 7/8 will belong to the Musica Florea ensemble and countertenor Roger Isaacs, who will sing with the ensemble at the Maquerade Hall. On Saturday 8/8 the closing concert of the 24th year of the IMF Český Krumlov will take place at the Castle Riding Hall. Two young soloists, violinist Ji Man Wee and violoncellist Carmine Miranda, accompanied by the South Czech Philharmonic, will perform.
The 24th year of the IMF Český Krumlov is approaching its finale and the fourth festival week will bring three more musical evenings. The last one of this year’s concerts under the open skies will be the evening with a glass of wine and Argentine tango in the beautiful Kooperativa Garden, which is not normally accessible to public. Music composed by the most famous Argentinian composer Ástor Piazzolla interpreted by the Escualo Quintet will prevail. Great multi-genre singer and musician Gabriela Vermelho will sing together with the Escualo Quintet and Argentine tango dancing performed by the master dance couple Markéta Růžičková and David Lang from the group Tangueros will be part of the program too. The evening titled Tango Argentino will be held on 6th August.
A day later, on 7th August, the ensemble Musica Florea, which focuses mainly on so-called historically informed interpretation of Baroque music, will perform at the Masquerade Hall. The magical space of the Masquerade Hall with paintings by Josef Lederer from the middle of the 18th century is a place where such music will feel “at home”. South African countertenor Roger Isaacs will sing together with the Musica Florea ensemble. The audience will also hear pieces by Baroque composers such as Georg Friedrich Händel, Antonio Vivaldi, Jan Dismas Zelenka and others.
The official closing concert of the International Music Festival Český Krumlov 2015 will take place on 8th August at the Castle Riding Hall and two young laureates of international competitions, South Korean violinist Ji Man Wee and violoncellist Carmine Miranda from the USA, will play. They will be accompanied by the South Czech Philharmonic under the baton of Slovak conductor Mario Košík.
Ji Man Wee has successfully participated in a number of competitions. In 2010 he received the main prize at the International Joseph Haydn Competition and a special prize at the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra Competition. He has given solo recitals, for example, at the Kumho Art Hall in Seoul, at the Munetsugu Hall in Nagoya in Japan and also at the Esterházy Palace in Eisenstadt in Austria. He has performed as a soloist with the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra and other ensembles numerous times and has also given a concert together with the Korean Chamber Orchestra at the Royal Conservatory in Brussels. He is currently studying at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg.
Carmine Miranda has performances with several chamber orchestras at important concert halls including Carnegie Hall and music festivals around the world to his credit. At the age of twenty-two he recorded the Six Suites for Violoncello Solo by Johann Sebastian Bach for Centaur Records and became one of the youngest artists in the world who made a recording of this complete work. He has received a number of prestigious awards, e.g. the gold, silver and bronze medal in three categories at the Global Music Awards in 2014. He is finishing his doctorate degree at Cincinnati College – Conservatory of Music.
At the beginning of the concert both soloists will play the Double concerto for violin, cello, strings and harpsichord in B-flat major by Antonio Vivaldi. Carmine Miranda will then perform the Concerto for cello and orchestra in A minor by Robert Schumann and after the intermission Ji Man Wee will play the Concerto for violin and orchestra in D major by Ludwig van Beethoven.
