Vargas, Urbanová, Martínez, Plachetka and Hrůša – Gala Concert for the Year of Czech Music on 17th December 2014 at the O2 Arena

At the end of this year, on 17th December, a concert which will be the highlight of the celebrations of the Year of Czech Music 2014 will take place. The venue itself proves that it will be a unique event. While big events held in Prague are commonly connected with the Rudolfinum or the Municipal House, in this case the visitors will enjoy The Bartered Bride and other treasures of Czech music in the huge spaces of the O2 Arena.

Top Czech and world artists in the field of performing arts accompanied by a unique symphony orchestra which will consist of the representatives of all the symphony orchestras united in the Association of Symphony Orchestras and Choirs of the Czech Republic including representatives of the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra. The audience will hear exclusively Czech music; Eva Urbanová, Adam Plachetka and foreign guests Ana María Martínez and Ramón Vargas will sing arias from Smetana’s and Dvořák’s operas under the baton of Jakub Hrůša.

The closing Gala Concert for the Year of Czech Music 2014 is one of the most significant and biggest projects held by the Czech Association of Music Festivals and Betsport Arena, a.s. The Association of Professional Symphony Orchestras and Choirs of the Czech Republic and the City of Prague also affiliated themselves with the organization of the concert. The Year of Czech Music, which will be completed by this gala concert, will contribute to raising public awareness of Czech music both in the Czech Republic and abroad and will also promote the prestige of Czech culture and the Czech Republic as a whole on the international scene. The concert will be a prestigious social event which will also promote the position and good name of the partners participating in its organization.
