Distinctive musical style of the Janoska Ensemble
The program of the festival does not consist purely of so-called classical music and will cross different genres also this year. The Janoska Ensemble will present its distinctive musical style to the Český Krumlov audience at the Masquerade Hall on 3rd August.
The ensemble cooperates with artists such as Anna Netrebko, Bobby McFerrin, jazz guitarist Biréli Lagrène and Julian Rachlin, who will also perform at this year’s festival and who said the following about the ensemble, “As an ensemble ‘they are a whiff of fresh air’, combining their outstanding, individual talents with their family ties. They have become successful in performing in a variety of genres in their unique “Janoska style”, which is creating a new hybrid genre.” The Janoska Ensemble together with soprano Marcela Cerno and baritone Daniel Serafin will present an original combination of classical music with a tinge of jazz, pop and traditional music. They will interpret works by authors such as J. Strauss Jr., F. Lehár, G. Bizet, R. Stolz, R. Janoska, W. A. Mozart and N. Paganini. You may, for example, look forward to their interpretation of Capriccio No. 24 of the last mentioned violin genius Nicola Paganini, into which the Janoska Ensemble projects elements of the king of pop Michael Jackson or to Strauss’s The Bat, which the ensemble will play à la Gershwin. The quality of the ensemble is also confirmed by the fact that their own profile CD was released last year by one of the most prestigious classical music companies Deutsche Grammophon.
