22nd year of the International Music Festival Český Krumlov

The 22nd year of the summer musical display in Český Krumlov offered classical music, jazz, a musical, flamenco and other genres – all of these were performed by outstanding musicians. Famous Latvian mezzo-soprano Elīna Garanča was the face of the 22nd year of the festival, which she opened with an opera recital accompanied by the Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra. The festival also offered a congratulatory concert on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the band Čechomor, a vocal recital by bass-baritone Adam Plachetka, a concert by phenomenal Korean pianist Kun Woo Paik, flamenco performed by Spanish guitarist Carlos Piñana as well as the monumental performance The Queen Symphony conducted by British composer Tolga Kashif. Singers from Broadway returned to the festival with melodies from musicals, there was also a jazz concert called Jazz Trumpeters’ Night as well as the traditional national evening with culture and gastronomy of a particular country, in 2014 an excursion was made into Russia. Lovers of chamber music could enjoy a series of chamber  oncerts at the Masquerade Hall. Bulgarian violin virtuoso Albena Danailova performed at the closing concert of the festival.
