Slovak tenor Miroslav Dvorský is a part of the international singing elite performing at the most important stages in Europe and abroad. He studied singing at the Conservatory and then at the Academy of Music in Bratislava with Ida Černecká, and at the Teatro alla Scala Milano with Luciano Silvestri. His successful career started in 1983 when he debuted at the the Slovakian National Theatre in Bratislava (Nemorino in Donizetti’s L’elisir d’amore). In 1986, he became a permanent soloist of the Slovakian National Theatre Opera. First engagements abroad took him to Munich, Stuttgart, Leipzig, Hannover, Düsseldorf, Zurich, Genève, Lucerne, Bern and Basel. Since 1996 he has been a permanent guest at the Vienna State Opera, he often performs at the State and German Operas in Berlin, Covent Garden in London, La Scala in Milan, Opéra National de Paris, Teatro Real Madrid, Semperoper in Dresden, Bavarian State Opera in Munich, opera houses in Venice, Genova, Bologna, Frankfurt, Hamburg, Oslo, San Francisco, Cincinnati, Toronto, Tokyo, Santiago de Chile, etc. His signature roles include Puccini’s Rodolfo (La bohème), Pinkerton (Madama Butterfly), Luigi (Il tabarro) and Cavaradossi (Puccini: Tosca), Verdi’s Alfredo (La traviata), Manrico (Il trovatore), Gabriele Adorno (Simon Boccanegra) and Macduff (Macbeth), Tchaikovsky’s Lensky (Eugene Onegin) and Herman (The Queen of Spades), Faust (Gounod: Faust), Don José (Bizet: Carmen), Wagner’s Lohengrin, Turiddu (Mascagni: Cavalleria rusticana), Jeník (Smetana: The Bartered Bride), Prince (Dvořák: Rusalka), Janáček’s Laca and Števa (Jenůfa), Boris (Katya Kabanová) and Albert Gregor (The Makropulos Affair), etc. Miroslav Dvorský is also a frequent guest performer of concert halls and at the recording studios of Supraphon, Opus, Naxos and Discover and in addition has collaborated on recordings with the ORF, the NDR and the Slovakian and Czech Broadcasting Services. He has performed with major orchestras such as Vienna and Czech Philharmonic Orchestras, Orchestre de Paris, Bamberg Symphony Orchestra, Orchestre Symphonique de Montréal and others.

The concert organizers would like to apologize for an unexpected change to the program. Miroslav Dvorský, the Slovak operatic tenor, will appear due to the sudden disease of the Mexican operatic tenor, Ramón Vargas.
