Festive Overture in castle garden Summer Riding Hall today at 9 p.m.
The opening titled Festive Overture is conceived as a musical fairy-tale play, during which selected artists, who will later perform at the festival again with their own concerts, will make an appearance. Classical music is represented by cellist Jiří Bárta and young South Korean soprano Sooyeon Kim, who was Jonas Kaufmann’s partner during his recital in Český Krumlov in 2014. Another performance will belong to an outstanding interpreter of medieval sacred music, the ensemble Schola Gregoriana Pragensis. Other genres include swing represented by the singer Jan Smigmator. Broadway singers Christiane Noll and Hugh Panaro will add the musical genre to the program, which has been very popular among the viewers. This year the IMF Český Krumlov started cooperating with Jaroslav Ježek Elementary Art School, which provides music education for visually impaired children and youth. The mission of the festival is not only to bring music to glossy stages. It wants everybody who is interested to be able to experience music. Therefore, the festival helps those who love music and whose access to music is more difficult. One of the performances of the opening evening will belong to a selected talented student of the school.
