International Music Festival Český Krumlov 2010

The 19th year of the International Music Festival Český Krumlov takes place from July 16 to August 21, 2010.

The 19th International Music Festival Cesky Krumlov will open on July 16th with an opera gala performance featuring Argentina’s José Cura, known as the “tenor of the twenty-first century.” His charming voice, brilliant technique, and suggestive stage performance will promise an unforgettable experience as he is accompanied by Korean soprano In Hye Kim and The Czech Radio Symphonic Orchestra conducted by Mario de Rosa.

Our extremely successful musical project, Night on Broadway, filled with captivating melodies of Les Miserables, Phantom of the Opera, or the current hit, Mamma Mia will be brought to you by a trio of American Broadway singers . The main star will be soprano Christiane Noll, accompanied by Olomouc’s Moravian Philharmonic conducted by Rondall Craig Fleicher. (July 17)

Český Krumlov’s famous Revolving Theatre will don its opera robe for Mozart’s opera of all operas, Don Giovanni, performed in cooperation with the South Bohemian Theatre from České Budějovice. (July 23-28)

A series of chamber concerts will include the world-renown violinist, Gidon Kremer, who will come to Český Krumlov with his own established orchestra, Kremerata Baltica. The Castle Riding Hall will be the venue for his very musical and technically perfect interpretation. (July 31)

Every year. the Festival offers gastronomic specialties coupled with national melodies. This year we will transport you directly to vivid and sunny Mexico. (August 7)

We will maintain this electrifying temperament with a unique collaboration of the prominent violin virtuoso Pavel Šporcl with Slovak Gypsy cymbal band, Romano Stilo. (August 14)

The musical palette will be enriched by arts of the old masters. Baroque music of Czech monasteries will be brought to Český Krumlov and presented by Capella Regia Musicalis (August 8) and Octupus Pragensis (August 19).

The 19th International Music Festival will close on August 21 with Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto in D-major and Dvořák’s Symphony No. 8. Prominent Israeli violinist, Vadim Gluzman will solo with the accompaniment of The Czech Radio Symphony Orchestra, conducted by José Miguel Rodilla.
