Invitation to the 28th year of IMF ČK

At present we are completing the details of the program of the 28th year. For the opening concert we will go back to the castle garden. On 19th July 2019 we will invite the visitors of the opening evening to the parterre of the fountain, where a period narrative performance about the time of Louis XIV, who loved music and dance, staged numerous musical-dance performances and participated in them himself, will be staged. The scenery will be completed by period lighting. The working title of the concert is Music and Ballet for the Sun King. A garden feast will follow. The world-renowned ensemble Take 6, which has won ten prestigious Grammy Awards, has accepted the invitation to the second festival concert. This unmistakeable and untameable vocal group has received a special acknowledgement as “the most often nominated vocal group in the history of Grammy Awards” and their sound is truly unique: six angelic and refined voices coherent in crystal clear harmony and syncopated rhythms, adorned arrangements in combination with funky and groove which escalate to gospel, jazz, R&B and a tinge of pop. The story of Take 6 started in 1980 at Oakwood College in Huntsville in Alabama. In 1987 the group signed a contract with Warner Brothers and changed their name to Take 6. Their debut album of the same name released the following year received 2 Grammy Awards. They have made recordings and performed with important personalities such as Quincy Jones, Stevie Wonder, Ray Charles, Ella Fitzgerald and Whitney Houston. At the IMF Český Krumlov the ensemble will perform with a symphony orchestra. Let me also reveal that next year’s program will once again include a musical. This time we opted for an interesting confrontation “Broadway meets Broadway”, during which the soloists from Broadway which the Český Krumlov festival audience knows very well by now as well Czech musical singers will perform alongside each other in one evening. The program offer of the 28th year will certainly also reflect the 30th anniversary of the fall of the Iron Curtain, however, for now we shall keep what the evening connected with this occasion will look like to ourselves. The festival will return to the Baroque Theatre, where the opera Terpsicore by G. F. Händel will be presented and festival visitors may also look forward to new festival concert venues. The 28th year of the IMF will take place from 19th July till 10th August 2019. We shall look forward to your visit!
