The concert on Sunday of the first festival’s week

Church of Corpus Christi and the Grieving Virgin Mary, where the concert of leading Czech organist Jaroslav Tůma will take place. This is because it is hidden behind the main altar. It is quite an unusual solution, however, it is clear that the location of the organ has no negative effect on its sound which fills the entire nave of the church. Nicolaus Christeindel’s instrument is the oldest in Český Krumlov and was preserved almost unaffected by later interventions and modifications. For his program Tůma selected melodies by Adam Václav Michna. And because only his vocal instrumental music was preserved and unfortunately no music for the organ, Jaroslav Tůma took inspiration from his themes and composed compositions for organ in Michna style. The concert is completed with works by J. S. Bach and George Muffat, who both inherently belong to the repertoire of the royal instrument.
