Spanish flamenco guitarist and composer Carlos Piñana performed his project Flamenco Symphony, which connects the flamenco genre with the sound of a symphony orchestra, in the Brewery Garden on Saturday 23rd July. He was accompanied by the Moravian Philharmonic Orchestra Olomouc under the baton of Jan Kučera. Maise Márquez added flamenco dance to the music and the other soloists were Agustín Garnés (vocals) and Miguel Ángel Orengo (percussion). “Flamenco is music full of passion and energy, which was clear from the reception of the audience,” said the conductor. “The audience was warm – just like in Spain. I love performing in Český Krumlov, it is a magical town. I would also like to thank the orchestra, it is difficult to play flamenco in an orchestral setup and the musicians did it brilliantly,” Carlos Piñana expressed his appreciation after the end of the concert during which the weather was once again on our side. Rain and storms were forecast for this night too. Only when everybody was in the safety of the guest houses or pubs a big storm came. Let’s hope that the weather continues to be favourable to festival.
