The program of the 26th year of the IMF ČK 2017

From 14th July till 5th August the International Music Festival will offer a total of 19 concerts.

From 14th July till 5th August the International Music Festival Český Krumlov will offer a total of 19 concerts at which leading music artists will perform. The dominant feature of the IMF will be traditionally the opening opera gala concert which will belong to two opera stars this time – charming soprano Angela Gheorghiu and congenial tenor Ramón Vargas. They will be accompanied by PKF – Prague Philharmonia under the leadership of Leoš Svárovský.

Other important classical music personalities which will make an appearance at the 26th year of the festival include, for example, Mischa Maisky, who excels in the style of legendary virtuosos – great tone and great gestures. Young Chinese pianist Shiran Wang will perform together with him. Among other important artists will be Rusian violinist Maria Solozobova and Julian Rachlin, who without any doubt belongs to the leading violinists and violists of the present day, for whom perfect technique is entirely matter-of-course and who, on top of that, also attracts great attention as a conductor. Young Canadian violist Sarah McElravy will make an appearance by his side.

The festival will also pay tribute to several artists, whose anniversary will be commemorated in 2017. The 450th anniversary of the birth of composer Claudio Monteverdi will be honoured by the Cappella Mariana with a concert consisting of his works and trumpeter Marek Zvolánek and organist Pavel Svoboda will pay tribute to one of the most important trumpeters of the 20th century, Maurice André. Other artists who will make an appearance include violinist Bohuslav Matoušek with the Virtuosi Pragenses orchestra, violoncellist Petr Nouzovský together with guitarist Miriam Rodriguez Brüllová in the program titled “Après un rêve”, Peruvian guitarist Jesus Castro Balbi and soprano Marcela Cerno with the Janoska Ensemble, also numerous chamber and symphony ensembles, such as the Škampa Quartet, the Smetana Trio, an ensemble which belongs to the world’s leading interpreters of sacred medieval music – Schola Gregoriana Pragensis, the Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra (the residential orchestra of the IMF ČK) under the leadership of Manuel Hernández-Silva,  the South Czech Philharmonic under the baton of Jan Talich and the North Czech Philharmonic Teplice. Verdi’s “Messa da Requiem”, whose every performance is always a feast and at the same time a deep musical enrichment, will be interpreted by renowned soloists, the Czech Philharmonic Choir of Brno, the Bohuslav Martinů Philharmonic Orchestra and conductor Stanislav Vavřínek.

However, the festival will also offer refreshing popular genres: the “Rendez-vous” with French chanson interpreted by Radka Fišarová, the Irish Evening with the group Altan (with Irish whiskey tasting) and American musicals in the “Bravo Broadway” program with authentic musical stars from Broadway – Chloe Lowery, Capathia Jenkins, Rob Evan, Hugh Panaro and conductor Randall Craig Fleischer.

Besides the traditional festival locations such as the Brewery Garden, Kooperativa Garden, Castle Riding Hall and Masquerade Hall, just as last year, the International Music Festival Český Krumlov 2017 will also open its gates to other attractive places in Český Krumlov including the Corpus Cristi Monastery Church and the gardens of the Český Krumlov Castle, in which the closing compiled evening titled “A Night of Baroque Masters”, during which the ensemble Barocco sempre giovane with solo trumpeter Marek Zvolánek and baroque trumpeters will perform, will be held. The evening will end with a festive firework display.

Experience the combination of beautiful melodies with the magical atmosphere of Český Krumlov during the 26th year of the IMF Český Krumlov 2017!
