Wild musical-dance “ride” by the Gypsy Devils perked up the audience in Český Krumlov
The evening of Thursday 26th July belonged to the Carmen Fantasy by Gypsy Devils. The Slovak ensemble Gypsy Devils and the dance group Magic Spurs performed an outright wild musical-dance “ride” in the performance inspired by the tragic love story and music by Georges Bizet. Bizet’s famous melodies were interpreted in an original adaption of the leading personality of the orchestra, Ernest Šarközi, dominated by gypsy and folklore inspiration. The songs were sung by Šarközi’s wife and at the same time cellist Sylvia and Arpád Jánoška. Flamenco solos were danced by Denisa Sofie Pavelová. All the performers gave a thrilling performance and their Carmen lifted the viewers from their chairs. “The audience in Český Krumlov created a fantastic atmosphere for us, I believe, they understood our Carmen,” assessed the leader of the ensemble Štefan Picúr Banyák after the performance.
