Vahid Khadem-Missagh is one of the leading violinists of his generation. From the early age of eleven he continued his musical studies in Boris Kuschnir’s masterclass at the Conservatory of Music in Vienna. With twelve years he won the Mozart competition and gave his debut as soloist with orchestra in Salzburg. Further studies with Rainer Küchl and Gerhard Schulz at the University for Music and Performing Arts, Vienna and with Igor Ozim in Bern/Switzerland. Mastercourse studies with Tibor Varga and Zakhar Bron. Concert trips have taken him throughout Europe and Japan. Performances as soloist with the Nagoya Philharmonic Orchestra, the Tonkuenstler Symphony Orchestra, Wiener Kammerorchester, Academia Allegro Vivo, Orquesta Sinfonica Castilla y Léon and the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra Amsterdam. He gave his debut as soloist at the Salzburger Festspiele in August 2001 and 2002 in Vienna’s Musikverein with Tchaikovsky’s violinconcerto. Furthermore he has produced recordings for BBC England, Radio Suisse DRS and the ORF. Vahid Khadem-Missagh is first prize-winner of several competitions, such as the „Concorso Internationale di Stresa“ in Italy 1996, the „International Chambermusic Festival Austria“ and winner of the Austrian Radio Prize. 1999 he received the Cultural Award of the city of Baden. In addition to solo appearances Vahid Khadem-Missagh has been appointed concertmaster of the Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra from 2000-2003, with concert tours with Seiji Ozawa, Pierre Boulez, Mariss Jansons, Ivan Fisher, Franz Welser-Möst; including performances at Lucerne Festival, Salzburg Festival, Vienna Musikverein, BBC Proms – Royal Albert Hall, Paris – cité de la musique, Festival Aix-en-Provence, Berliner Philharmonie, Edinburgh International Festival. 2016 he has been appointed Artistic Director of the international Chambermusic Festival Allegro Vivo in Austria.

The ensemble Allegro Vivo Chamber Orchestra was founded in 1977 in Vienna by Bijan Khadem-Missagh as one of the first chamber orchestras in Austria. The claim of this orchestra to combine the highest artistic quality with the joy of making music and to turn it into extraordinary concert experiences has not lost its relevance since then. It has given new impetus and enriched the Austrian cultural scene. Numerous CD, radio and TV recordings document the homogeneity of their sound culture. Every year the Academia Allegro Vivo, as the residence orchestra of the Allegro Vivo-Festival Austria, organizes numerous concerts. In thematic emphases one dedicates oneself to the wealth of works for chamber orchestra from the baroque to the modern age and brings commissioned compositions to the world premiere. CD recordings of the premieres of recent years under the title “Metamorphoses” the recording of F. Schubert’s “Death and the Girl” in the version by G. Mahler, J. Haydn’s most famous piano concertos and the productions of EW Korngold’s “Symphonic Serenade” and B. Bartok’s “Divertimento for string orchestra” receive a lot of attention. Other recordings include Tchaikovsky’s “Souvenir de Florence” and “Souvenir d ‘un lieu cher”, Mozart’s clarinet concerto with Matthias Schorn, as well as a world premiere of Flora Marlene Geisselbrecht and R. Strauss Metamorphoses for 23 solo strings. Recently, under the title “New Horizons”, the new double CD featuring works by Dvořák, Barber, Villa-Lobos, Stravinsky, Rota, Pleyel and Roussel was presented.
