“The magician of the violin and viola” Julian Rachlin

Another important personality from the instrumental world which will perform at the IMF this year is “the magician of the violin and viola” Julian Rachlin, who has also attracted great attention thanks to his conducting activities, and who will make an appearance as a conductor on 28th July at the Castle Riding Hall in Český Krumlov. Rachlin is remarkable not only for his virtuosic player’s equilibristics but also for the depth and appeal of his delivery. One of the reviewers used this comparison to describe his playing, “If I should award a luminosity of 100 W to most of the famous contemporary stars of the violin sphere, then Julian Rachlin stuns with the blaze of a two-hundred-watt halogen light.” Talented Canadian violist Sarah McElravy will perform by his side with the accompaniment of the South Czech Philharmonic. The program consists of works by Mozart and Beethoven. From the compositions written by the latter, Rachlin will play the Violin concerto in D major Op. 61. The concert is traditionally dedicated to the members of the IMF Český Krumlov Friends Club, who will receive two tickets to this concert free of charge or at a significant discount, depending on the type of membership card.
